Toyota in the Second World War
With the onset of World War II, the company focused on producing trucks for the Japanese army. Due to the shortage of supplies in the Asian country, the military trucks were manufactured as simple as possible. For example, they only had one light in the centre of the hood. Luckily for Toyota, the war ended shortly before a scheduled allied bombardment of the company’s factories in Aichi. Commercial production resumed in 1947.
The 1970s…
In the 1970s the company continued to expand horizons and the company was given its first Japanese Quality Control at the beginning of the decade and a motorsport presence was established. In 1982 Toyota Motor Company and Toyota Motor Sales merged to form Toyota Motor Corporation. At the end of the 80’s, he was excited to launch new brands, being the first Lexus in 1989.
Toyota today.
In 2002 it established collaboration agreements with the French automobile companies Citroën and Peugeot. A year earlier, Toyota had already started producing cars in France.
More recently, on March 2009, Toyota announced a production cut of more than 50%. The only reason was to reduce inventories and cope with falling sales.
At present, the models marketed by the brand are (without including its variants): Auris, Avensis, Aygo, Corolla, Hilux, IQ, Land Cruiser, LC200, Prius, RAV4, Urban Cruiser, Verso and Yaris.
