“Never give up” Louis Chevrolet

Chevrolet launched its improved version of the third generation of El Camino in 1971, including larger headlights, grille and modified bumpers.
In 1971, engines required less compression for those using low-octane unleaded fuel, and GM’s A.I.R. system, a “smog pump” controlled exhaust emissions.
Power and performance were reduced, and the standard version was a 6-cylinder 250ci engine with 145 hp. They also launched the more sporty versions that had 307 and 350 cubic centimeter small-block V8 engines that gave off between 245 and 270 hp, and the 402 and 454 cubic centimeter large-block V8s that shot up to 300 and 365 hp.
