“Now, the Mazda RX-7. If not this time, when?” Mazda claim.

Mazda RX-7. It is a sports car developed by the Japanese Mazda Corporation between 1978 and 2002. It is also known as the Savanna RX-7 or Efini RX-7. The original model competed with other similar models of the time such as the Datsun/Nissan 280Z.

Equipped with a twin Wankel rotary engine, located in the front central part of the vehicle and rear drive, made it a fairly balanced and sporty model. The RX-7 was the natural replacement for the RX-3, but indirectly also replaced another rotary engine model, the Cosmo, which had been withdrawn from the market the previous year.

The design of the RX-7 is that of a true sports car. The relatively lightweight Wankel engine was positioned slightly behind the front axle. The model was marketed as a 2-seater coupe, although there was a 4-seater option. The car accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 9.2 seconds, and could reach 0.779 Gs on the side in a corner. The engine produced 100 hp at 6000 rpm, allowing maximum speeds close to 190 km/h.
