“If you invent the Mini Cooper, pour all your energy and passion into it and it gets made, you should be on a roll. In the film industry you have to start again the next day.” Estelle Morris

It was the sensation of the 1963/64 winter rally season: a tiny red David with a white roof left behind all the powerfully propelled Goliaths and took first place in the overall ranking of the Montecarlo rally.

Thus, a small car became a legend overnight. Originally conceived as an economical vehicle, with low fuel consumption, but the Cooper version turned out to be a spirited car that with that success was transformed into the sports utility car. Whenever a Mini participated, either in its normal version, Cooper or as a prepared car, the surprise was almost certain. It shocked the world of rallies and also made theirs on more than one circuit, despairing the drivers of cars more powerful and accustomed to winning. The 1960s was the decade of the Mini, far beyond official competition. Even when the Mini began to lose its hegemony on closed circuits, no other car on the market offered more sportsmanship, allowed more enjoyment in so little space and for so little money.
After 40 years, nothing has changed. What once won the Mini in Monte Carlo remains one of the fundamental elements of the MINI Cooper: a car of very compact dimensions, with a long wheelbase, capable of cornering at amazing speeds. With a driving behaviour that invites sporty driving.
