An unprecedented expansion.
In the 1950s, the American firm began its European expansion through agreements or purchases from other manufacturers. Thus, in the United Kingdom it bought the Rootes Group, in France SIMCA and in Spain, Barreiros. This allowed it to have an important presence in our continent. Among its best known models of those years, in the United States could be the LeBaron, while in Europe the Chrysler 150 and Chrysler 180 became very popular model.
In 1988 the Chrysler group merged with Daimler, from which the DaimlerChrysler company was born, which lasted until 2007. From those years made the Chrysler PT Cruiser fortune as the most popular model, especially for its retro aesthetics.
Chysler, Fiat and Lancia. “Tell me who you’re with and I’ll tell you who you are.”
Between 2007 and 2009 Chrysler remained an independent group and brand and from May 2009 Fiat took 20 percent of the group’s shares and became a reference shareholder. The reorganization of the range worldwide caused some of Chrysler’s models such as the Voyager or the 300M to be sold on our continent under the Lancia brand.
