The company takes its name from its founder, Shozo Kawasaki, and has no connection to the city of Kawasaki. The history of Kawasaki

In 1878 Shozo Kawasaki in Tokyo created the Kawasaki Tsukiji shipyard and laid the foundation stone for the future economic empire. In 1901, Kawasaki manufactured Japan’s first steam engine. Before World War II, Kawasaki made a crucial contribution to the development of the fleet that would eventually serve the war in the Pacific. The most famous aircraft produced by Kawasaki for World War II was the Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien. After the war, Kawasaki reformed its assembly line for the war and definitively moved away from the weapons industry. He first manufactured four-stroke engines with 148-150 cm³. In January 1961 the first motorcycle left the factory; these were called 125 B7. Shortly thereafter, Kawasaki resumed aircraft construction, but in this case it dedicated itself to civil aviation and built the Kawasaki C-1 transport plane and a training plane called Kawasaki T-4 for the Japanese self-defense forces. Today Kawasaki Heavy Industries is not only dedicated to the production of motorcycles, it is also one of the leading companies in the development of robotics and high-speed rail.
