Horacio Pagani (born in Casilda, province of Santa Fe, Argentina, on November 10, 1955) was always a lover of design, one day he participated in a contest for the interior design of a motorhome. He obtained the first prize which was awarded by the renowned mechanic Oreste Berta, who later contacted him with Juan Manuel Fangio.

    Ready for speed?

After the Formula 1 champion wrote a letter of introduction to Horacio, he traveled to Italy in search of a position in a factory. After a failed attempt at Ferrari, he is hired at Lamborghini. After quite some time he managed to get to a place important enough to talk face to face with Ferruccio Lamborghini the founder of the Italian company, Horacio told him that they should have their own division for the creation of composites such as carbon fiber. The founder of Lamborghini did not agree, so Pagani decides to set up his own factory by borrowing money from the bank. This is when he founded Pagani Composite Research in 1988. This new company collaborated with Lamborghini on numerous projects, including the redesign of the Lamborghini Countach, the 25th version. Anniversary, the P140 design concept, and the Lamborghini Diablo.

In the late 1980s, Pagani began designing his own car, then called “Project C8”. He planned to change the name of the C8 to “Fangio F1” to honor five-time Formula 1 champion Juan Manuel Fangio. In 1991 Pagani Modena Design was founded to meet the growing demand for its design services, specific engineering and prototype production. In 1992, construction of a prototype of the Fangio F1 began, and in 1993, the vehicle was tested in the Dallara wind tunnel with positive results. And this would give way to a series of sports cars that have left us speechless ever since.
